Compatibility
MatchGear is compatible with a wide range of watches running Apple WatchOS or Android WearOS. On this page, you'll find an overview of the compatible devices that are able to run MatchGear.
The type of watch you pick entirely depends on the smartphone you currently have. Apple Watches are usually more expensive, but they have the best compatibility with iPhones. Android WearOS watches are usually cheaper, and they work great with Android phones, but they lack a lot of features if you combine them with an Apple Watch. Sometimes, it's not even possible.
Our advice? If you have an iPhone, go with an Apple Watch. Do you have any other phone? Get a Android WearOS watch.
MatchGear requires WatchOS 6.0 to run the app. That means that all Apple Watches are compatible, except from the original Apple Watch, released in 2015. To be able to use WatchOS 6.0, an iPhone running iOS 13 or higher is required as well.

MatchGear requires Android 8 or higher to run the app, together with access to the Play Store to download the app. Even if the device is not listed below, if your device matches these criteria, it would probably work just fine.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch series, starting from the Galaxy Watch 4 is a fantastic option. Although the latest model can be quite expensive, earlier models can be bought for less than €150,-! Do make sure the model you buy is from the 4th generation or higher. Earlier generations are not running Android WearOS, but Tizen OS.
The Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 GPS is also a great choice, especially when you care about battery life a lot. Although it's more expensive than the 4th generation Galaxy Watch, the battery can last up to 4 days and it's both compatible with iPhones as Android devices!
